It’s been a great start to the Academic year in Sport not surprisingly helped by the gorgeous weather that has held out.The typically wet cross country was instead treated to a warm summers evening.
We are delighted that a record number of Year 7 places have been offered for September 2017 demonstrating the shift in our reputation. If you have not already seen us in action, please contact the school office for a tour.
“I took on the leadership of Gloucester Academy from September 2015. I am really excited about the opportunity of working closely with our students, our team of staff and with parents to accelerate our journey of improvement. My school leadership is all about an unshakeable belief that, through commitment and effort and great teaching, all children can succeed” Ian Frost, Principal
TEACHING SCHOOL STATUS
Primary and secondary schools within The White Horse Federation work closely together as a family of schools and benefit from National Teaching School status. Teaching Schools take a leading role in recruiting and training excellent new teachers. They identify and develop leadership potential; they provide support for other schools, and work with schools across their alliance to raise standards of teaching.
"Feeling proud to belong to our school is one of the hopes we have as parents for our children. There is a really strong culture of belonging at GA. One of our Yr11s wrote: “I’ve made new friends at GA from all around the world: Jamaica, Africa, Romania, Poland, Wales. They’re really interesting and thanks to them I’ve been able to improve as a person. Each of us are good in certain subjects and we work together too and that’s what GA is for: bringing people together to be successful.”
The current principal has brought strong leadership to the school and his high ambitions for pupils have been transmitted throughout the school. There has been a transformation of culture through high expectations of leaders and teachers. Pupils are now making more rapid progress than in recent years.
“massive improvement, happy to be growing with the school”
“I believe the progress that GA is making is very positive, both my daughters enjoy school”
“I am extremely pleased with how well my children are doing academically at GA. The school has changed so much over the years for the better”
“I’m very impressed with Gloucester Academy, my son is very happy and is enjoying all his lessons, especially English”
“The culture at Gloucester Academy has greatly changed over the last 12 months. There is a calm/nurturing feel when you physically enter the building and I feel my child is genuinely valued. There is an expectation that my child has the ability to achieve well”
