“I took on the leadership of Gloucester Academy from September 2015. I am really excited about the opportunity of working closely with our students, our team of staff and with parents to accelerate our journey of improvement. My school leadership is all about an unshakeable belief that, through commitment and effort and great teaching, all children can succeed” Ian Frost, Principal

TEACHING SCHOOL STATUS

Primary and secondary schools within The White Horse Federation work closely together as a family of schools and benefit from National Teaching School status. Teaching Schools take a leading role in recruiting and training excellent new teachers. They identify and develop leadership potential; they provide support for other schools, and work with schools across their alliance to raise standards of teaching.

"Feeling proud to belong to our school is one of the hopes we have as parents for our children. There is a really strong culture of belonging at GA. One of our Yr11s wrote: “I’ve made new friends at GA from all around the world: Jamaica, Africa, Romania, Poland, Wales. They’re really interesting and thanks to them I’ve been able to improve as a person. Each of us are good in certain subjects and we work together too and that’s what GA is for: bringing people together to be successful.”

OFSTED SUMMARY

The current principal has brought strong leadership to the school and his high ambitions for pupils have been transmitted throughout the school. There has been a transformation of culture through high expectations of leaders and teachers. Pupils are now making more rapid progress than in recent years.

WELCOME

ian frost webGloucester Academy is changing. Since I took on the leadership in September 2015, we’ve made some rapid and exciting improvements. Visitors often remark on the real step-change they’ve seen in expectations and ethos at the school. As a result, the number of applications to join us, both in Year 7 and at Sixth Form level has increased significantly.

Our school is a now a dynamic community committed to excellence in teaching, learning and personalised support. We want to inspire students to thrive at school and in the world. I am really excited about the opportunity of working closely with our students, our team of staff and with parents to continue and accelerate our journey of improvement.

We hope to give you a feel for what life is like at our Academy through our website. However, it is no substitute for seeing the school for yourself. If you would like to find out more or arrange a tour, please get in touch with our school office.
