Best ever GCSE and A Level exam results for Gloucester Academy

”Congratulations to Y11 and to Y13! We are proud of you all and delighted with all of your exam results this year. They represent the best results Gloucester Academy has ever achieved both at GCSE and at A level.

Congratulations to all our Y11s and Y13s on the fruits of their hard work and revision as they celebrate results today and last week, and also to their teachers for their fantastic support. While nationally the government has introduced new ‘tougher’ exams in Maths and English, and a more rigorous number system of grades, when we compare the percentage of students achieving both English and maths at grade 4 or above with the equivalent passes last year, this shows a jump of 17%. This represents notable improvement and reflects the changes in standards and expectations which we have introduced at GA over the past two years. Many of our Y11s will be joining us in the 6th form in September and there were queues of students from GA and other schools with their results ready to sign up for next year!

At A level we have seen similar excellent shift in results: our 18 year olds have seen average grades improve by two whole grades and all our Y13s have secured university and next steps of which they are proud. 100% of our Y13 leavers achieved grades A*-E, and 73% achieved grades A*-C. Again the best ever A Level results.

It is very difficult to compare this year’s results to previous years due to all of the national changes but the reactions this morning and last week said it all!  Today we saw smiles and hugs and tears of joy. I would like to thank our parents for their fantastic support. Well done everyone!”
