Homework is not an optional extra, but an essential part of a good education." - 1999 White Paper, Excellence in Schools
“Homework is independent study which is vital in raising student achievement.” Education White Paper
Obviously we ask and expect parents to support their children with homework. This may involve reading with them (whatever their age!), or asking questions about the task. It might mean sitting with your child and discussing current affairs in the news or checking through written work to help check for silly mistakes.
Not all homework is done at home; in fact, at GA we try and create an environment after school where students can continue with their studies and work in a safe, friendly, warm and supervised space. Many of our Yr10,11,12 and 13 students work well after the compulsory school day and work alongside teachers for extra support with their GCSE, BTEC or A Levels.
For more information about how younger children can benefit from this please contact your child’s Head of House.”
