Sixth Form

At A level we have seen our best ever set of results: our 18 year olds have seen average grades improve by two whole grades and all our Y13s have secured university and next steps of which they are proud. 100% of our Y13 leavers achieved grades A*-E, and 73% achieved grades A*-C.
Welcome to the Gloucester Academy Sixth Form. Gloucester Academy first opened its doors to Post-16 students in September 2013. We are creating an strongly academic community where students belong and are known well, where they believe in their goals and ambitions, where they strive through hard work and excellent teaching to reach them and where they achieve great results. We have now seen students pass through the Sixth Form and head off to further challenges at University, in apprenticeships and in employment.

Our Vision

Gloucester Academy is an exciting and inspiring place to learn, aiming to provide the highest quality teaching and driving towards the highest standards for all learners.  We provide excellent pastoral support through an inclusive and caring learning environment, an open and honest culture and a safe and positive environment for all to learn and work in.

Challenging goals, clear expectations and real student choice through a range of curriculum routes, with personalised learning that meets individual needs for all our students, are at the heart of our Academy.

We want our students to value and develop a strong sense of belonging to the Academy and we help them to do this with dedicated personal mentors and our committed, valued and skilled workforce.

Ethos and Values

At Gloucester Academy students and staff work together in an atmosphere that encourages respect for others, for our environment and for ourselves. Our students grow increasingly confident as they develop a range of learning and social skills alongside gaining knowledge that supports access to opportunities and pathways through to higher education, training and the world of work.

Vocational Education

Vocational education offers students learning in relevant, real-life contexts related to the development of a range of core employability skills. Academic and vocational learning are equally important to us. We have drawn upon the considerable experience of local partners in developing a wide range of vocational opportunities, work-based experience and progression routes into apprenticeships. Academy sixth formers have the option of vocational provision and benefit in a practical way from the strong links we are forging with local businesses.

We are educating for ambition and the future of our students and will:

  • Achieve outstanding results at all stages appropriate to ability
  • Deliver excellence in education through personalised learning and developmental challenges
  • Enable all students to take responsibility for their own learning and consistently raise aspirations and attainment
  • Offer the opportunity to engage in a range of additional activities in sport, music and the performing arts at the highest levels
  • Be at the heart of the local community, enabling students and the wider community to develop skills for life.
