Gloucester Academy is an exciting and inspiring place to learn, aiming to provide the highest quality teaching and driving towards the highest standards for all learners. We provide excellent pastoral support through an inclusive and caring learning environment, an open and honest culture and a safe and positive environment for all to learn and work in.
Challenging goals, clear expectations and real student choice through a range of curriculum routes, with personalised learning that meets individual needs for all our students, are at the heart of our Academy.
We want our students to value and develop a strong sense of belonging to the Academy and we help them to do this with dedicated personal mentors and our committed, valued and skilled workforce.
At Gloucester Academy students and staff work together in an atmosphere that encourages respect for others, for our environment and for ourselves. Our students grow increasingly confident as they develop a range of learning and social skills alongside gaining knowledge that supports access to opportunities and pathways through to higher education, training and the world of work.
The choice of digital technology and computing reflects the importance of technological developments in every aspect of our life and work both today and in our futures. It also provides a vehicle for developing students as independent and creative thinkers. ICT is used innovatively and extensively as a key resource to support and deliver the curriculum and personalised learning. We want the Academy to be distinguished by its leading-edge ICT capability and its integration into every aspect of work at the Academy.
Vocational education offers students learning in relevant, real-life contexts related to the development of a range of core employability skills. Academic and vocational learning are equally important to us. We have drawn upon the considerable experience of local partners in developing a wide range of vocational opportunities, work-based experience and progression routes into apprenticeships. Academy sixth formers have the option of vocational provision and benefit in a practical way from the strong links we are forging with local businesses.
