Proud to Be Part of the Gloucester Academy Community

Proud to Be Part of the Gloucester Academy Community

As the new academic year begins, I’m delighted to be starting my first as the principal of Gloucester Academy. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to our school’s wonderful community.

Over the coming weeks, I will be writing a series of blog posts outlining my vision for the school and the path to making the necessary improvements for Gloucester Academy to be one of the finest schools in the area. But first, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit more about myself.

Before joining Gloucester Academy, I was principal at Forest High School in Cinderford. During my two years in the role, the school’s Ofsted rating improved, and I was praised by Ofsted inspectors for calmly initiating improvements in the curriculum, teaching, and pupils’ outcomes. I am confident that, in my new position, I can bring about an equally successful period of improvement at Gloucester Academy.

Ours is a school close to my heart. Not only has my entire teaching career taken place in Gloucestershire, but I was previously the head of learning support at Gloucester Academy’s predecessor, Central Technology College. As a result, I have an intimate knowledge of the area, as well as a passion for making sure the school is a source of pride for our local community.

As I previously mentioned, you can expect to see a series of blogs published on the school website over the coming weeks. Some of the topics will include:

  • Adapting Our School to Meet the Community’s Needs
  • Setting Out a Path for Improvement
  • Developing a Curriculum That Helps Our Students Succeed
  • Making Gloucester Academy a Great Environment for Learning
  • Being Clear About Our Values and Transparent in Our Communication
  • Every Learner Counts: Adapting to the Needs of Our Learners

The publication of these blogs is the beginning of our school’s increased focus on improving communication with our community. This will primarily be done through our school website and our social media channels. So, if you don’t already, please take this opportunity to follow us on Twitter or like our Facebook page.

As I begin my headship, I will also be doing a lot to learn more about Gloucester Academy, our pupils, their families, and the community so that I can steer the school in the right direction.

If you have any questions or queries, I would love to hear them, so please contact the school on 01452 428800 or via email at

I look forward to meeting you all.
